The inspiration for this book came when I started teaching art classes for children through the outreach program of the wonderful Indianapolis Art Center.  I would start each lesson sharing a story from folklore.  Sometime the stories gave us pictures to depict when we created the daily art project.  Other times the stories hit upon what it means to be an artist and why we create art.  From my research this book was created.
